Who is the Koltiva Monitoring and Capacity Building Officer?

The key responsibility of the Monitoring and Capacity Building Officer is to assess the capacity of Koltiva program staff and to prepare and deliver a variety of Training of Trainers (ToT) activities for capacity development methodologies such as Farmer Field School (FFS) group training and individual farmer coaching. Training topics include good agriculture practices, certification, and facilitation skills, tailored to the needs of the targeted audience.


What are the key responsibilities of the Monitoring and Capacity Building Officer?

Responsibilities and Duties

Specific responsibilities of the Capacity Building Officer include:

Field Visits and Capacity Building:

  • Coordinate closely with Cluster Leaders on monitoring visits, training, and other capacity assistance needs and schedule.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor and evaluate the capacity of Koltiva program field staff and identify training needs with focus on staff technical knowledge (GAP, certification standards), understanding of Koltiva&rsquos surveys, and capacity to deliver farmer training and coaching activities.
  • Prepare qualitative reports on staff capacity based on observations in the field and farmer participant feedback.
  • Closely coordinate with the Cluster Leader and other members of the project team on monitoring results and capacity development needs to formulate a capacity development strategy and plan.
  • In coordination with the Cluster Leader deliver training to program implementation staff related to data collection, farmer training and coaching, and other program activities based on the learning needs of the target audience.
  • Develop and implement online and offline tools for conducting capacity assessments such as tests, quizzes, and other online staff evaluation tools.
  • Create training modules and guidelines compiling knowledge from internal and external sources and stakeholders for subjects and topics related to GAP, certification, traceability, environment, farmer training and coaching, and other.

Analytics:

  • Help review collected data to identify possible issues and gaps in regard to quality, i.e attendance lists and coaching data
  • Coordinate with the project and data teams on data quality improvement and data corrections. Help to identify where improvements are needed in the data review process.

Other Tasks:

  • Participate in internal and external working-groups and meetings. External events can include supply-chain audits, seminars and trainings, and customer meetings.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant major
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of Training of Trainers
  • Communicative knowledge of English language (both written and spoken)
  • In-depth knowledge of coffee and cocoa cultivation, chains and related issues
  • Knowledge of other crops
  • Experience in certification standards (Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic etc.)
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical mind and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Willingness to learn new things
  • Willingness to work in one of the 3 SL Landscapes and travel to other project locations in Sulawesi Tengah
